| The project starts just up the road from where I used to live in North Caulfield at Balaclava Junction in inner suburban Melbourne, Victoria. I lived in the area for over five years and had to cross the Junction to get to my local shopping strip for coffee or a newspaper.
Balaclava Junction is the only four-way transfer intersection for trams in Melbourne and it still gets a lot of use as it feeds trams from the Glenhuntly depot onto the number 03 line as well as allowing the 69 tram to turn towards St Kilda and Hawthorn. Because of the heavy use, the tram tracks are in a constant state of disrepair and you have to watch your step when crossing the roads. The general wear and tear is the basis of theses works.
