| In 1999 I started playing around with a small digital camera (640 x 480 pixels). I liked the idea of truly instant electronic images; their very ephemeral nature negates any monetary or weighted value one could attach to them, but the late 20th century is a world caught in the idea of the NOW! so I decided that an attempt must be made to exploit it. Here's the result.
The middle image is variation on an older work which only used the top half of the image. The older image lacked a certain impact that I was looking for at the time. By "mirroring" the image beneath the original work I found a strong symetry that was further exploited by creating the cold blue ice-like quality of the lower section's colour shift.
The right hand image is one of a series of studies on the nature of rock. I’ve used a similar image in the background of glow mix and here I look at the idea of creating the warmth you find in Australia’s opals.
