| Captains Flat, a small old mining town south east of Canberra in southern NSW, has a tough history of mine productivity and some disasters. It provided honest work for fathers and sons of families through good times and bad during the early to mid 20th century.
The mine is gone, bar the lookout on the hill above the town near where the old poppit head once stood. It is now a small rural community which some artists have found and called home. This image is of the hills on the east side of the valley, across from the lookout. The sky is a composite image whose mood adds to the deep black trees that are shown in stark contrast to the white eucalypt tree trunks. |
